The Cleveland Browns’ offense has been hard to watch through the first four games of the season with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco at the helm. Fans even called for a new quarterback as early as Week Two, but head coach Kevin Stefanski threw his support behind his veteran.
“Browns Stefanski said he won’t consider a quarterback change from Joe Flacco to Dillon Gabriel,” reported Mary Kay Cabot after Cleveland’s Week 2 loss.
Stefanski was still willing to stick with Flacco after Cleveland’s latest loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
“Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said he’s still not considering a QB change. ‘That’s not our focus … We didn’t do enough on offense,’” he said, reported Daniel Oyefusi after the loss to Detroit.
However, something appears to have shifted inside the Browns’ locker room.
“The current belief is that the #Browns are going to make a change at quarterback and start rookie Dillon Gabriel this week vs. the Vikings, sources tell (CBS Sports),” Matt Zenitz reported on Tuesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“But I saw all this preseason hype about how Shedeur could take over the starting job,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Can’t wait for the CBS graphic that shows Dillon Gabriel is the 41st Browns starting QB since 1999,” someone else added.
“It’s the correct decision for Cleveland, just wish they would’ve waited for Week 7 to make it. Really wanted the Steelers to face Flacco lol he was awful,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Gabriel is ready for the moment.
