The Cleveland Browns have been surrounded by a media circus since the franchise made the shocking decision to draft former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the NFL draft after already selecting Dillon Gabriel in the third round.
Neither rookie has appeared in a game so far this season, as the Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski have decided to roll with veteran Joe Flacco. For his part, Sanders has taken note of the quarterback play around the league, and he’s making it clear that he feels he’s better than a lot of what he’s seen.
“I know if you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I’m capable of doing better than that,” Sanders told reporters, via ESPN Cleveland.
Fans reacted to Sanders’ bold proclamation on social media.
“He’s capable of holding the ball for ages and getting sacked repeatedly,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“This young man is such a breath of fresh air. Our team is fantastic with incredible talent. Let these young men play more. The old guys should be teaching and taking less chances and hits,” one fan added.
“I hope that when his time comes, he balls out. Loved watching his dad play growing up. But I gotta say, his son doesn’t sound very confident here….lmao,” someone else added.
It’ll be intersting to see if Sanders’ play can back up his words when his number in finally called.
