Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are having yet another miserable season. While the defense has performed admirably, the offense has struggled to do much of anything under two different quarterbacks in veteran Joe Flacco and rookie Dillon Gabriel.

Flacco has since been traded to the Cincinnati Bengals, where he is performing like he is 10 years younger, which has raised some eyebrows with regard to how poorly he looked early in the season for the Browns.

Now, head coach Kevin Stefanksi, who has called plays for the embattled offense up to this point in the season, is relinquishing the duties and assigning them to offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, according to one prominent insider around the league.

For the second consecutive year, #Browns coach Kevin Stefanski hands off play-calling duties, this time to OC Tommy Rees,” Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Monday.

Fans reacted to the coaching switch-up on social media.

“Translation: Kevin Stefanski is getting fired this month,” oen fan wrote on Twitter.

“The prelude to benching Gabriel after they confirm there’s nothing there and then Stefanski gets fired at year end, if not during the season,’ someone else added.

“Never understood why the head coach calling the plays is always the default. Doesn’t often work that way on defense,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the change pays dividends over the second half of the season.
