The Cleveland Browns hosted a familiar quarterback on Friday while the team deals with the fallout of Deshaun Watson’s shoulder injury. After needing surgery on his injured shoulder, Watson will miss the remainder of the 2023 season. So, Cleveland needs some help at quarterback behind rookie signal-caller Dorian Thompson-Robinson. It turns out the Browns hosted a very notable name for a workout.
Former Super Bowl Champion and longtime division rival Joe Flacco, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens, visited the Browns. The team hosted the longtime former quarterback, last seen playing for the New York Jets.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news on Friday morning.
“The Browns are hosting a QB workout this morning, and sources say former Super Bowl MVP and Ravens QB Joe Flacco is among them,” Rapoport said. “Flacco last played for the Jets and has kept his mind open about a return.”
Browns reporter Jake Trotter later added that Flacco was “the only QB the Browns are bringing in for a workout,” according to the ESPN writer’s post.
Cleveland will likely bring Flacco on, if they do, to the practice squad for an emergency situation. The plan obviously seems to be to roll out with DTR, and the young quarterback has shown promise at times. We’ll see where the Browns go from here.
