The Cleveland Browns are still trying to figure out who the franchise quarterback will be. After Deshaun Watson suffered a setback in his recovery from the Achilles injury, the Browns went with veteran Joe Flacco as their opening week starter.
However, Flacco struggled with turnovers, and the Browns replaced him in the starting lineup with third-round 2025 draft selection Dillon Gabriel and subsequently made the shocking move to trade Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Now, some news has broken that may add some crucial context as to why the Browns were willing to move off of Flacco.
“He’s a good month away from being cleared for any football activity,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said of Watson’s return to the field, per Daniel Oyefusi.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“It’s truly amazing watching this clown agenda to dim shedeur’s light and make him irrelevant. All the narratives are failing. Now they are turning to Watson,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“The day the Browns never have to pay this man will be a great day in the city of Cleveland,” someone else added.
“Announcing watson as the starter again would be a good way to try and replicate the 2020 crowds in the stadium,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Browns insert Watson as the starter once he is medically cleared to return.
