A media circus has surrounded the Cleveland Browns since the franchise made the shocking decision to draft former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the NFL draft after already selecting Dillon Gabriel in the third round.
The rookie quarterbacks have yet to appear in a game, as Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has decided to roll with veteran Joe Flacco. Now, Sanders is making it clear that he feels he’s better than a lot of his contemporaries around the league.
“I know if you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I’m capable of doing better than that,” Sanders told reporters.
Now, Stefanski is answering his young quarterback.
“He’s done a good job,” Stefanski said of Sanders, according to Daniel Oyefusi. “I think all our guys feel like they’re ready and they’re working hard.”
Fans reacted to Stefanksi’s response on social media.
“Honestly, “He’s done a good job” is the nicest thing Stefanski has ever said about Shedeur. Maybe he’s starting to warm up to him a little bit,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Joe Flacco won’t save his or AB job. If Gabriel and Sanders don’t play this season you wasted two picks. Add to that Wattson trade and picks and all bad draft picks. New COTY reward wont be enough to save his job,” someone else added.
“Credit to Stefanski for not laughing out loud when asked,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders takes the field this season.
