The New York Jets and Denver Broncos are once again trade partners.
Less than a week after the Jets officially ended the Zach Wilson experiment by sending the No. 2 overall pick from 2021 to the Broncos, New York sent defensive end John Franklin-Myers to Denver. In exchange, the Jets will receive a sixth-round pick in 2026.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the deal on Saturday.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that the deal, which had been in the works for a while, “appeared in jeopardy” after the Jets traded for Malachi Corley, using a pick that was earmarked for a Franklin-Myers trade. Eventually, though, new compensation was reached. Cimini added, “JFM agreed to a new, two-year deal with Denver (a pay cut from what he was due to make with the Jets, but still a chunk of guaranteed money).”
Franklin-Myers was a fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 2018. After one season, he was waived by the Rams and signed by the Jets. He’s recorded 19.5 sacks in his career, including 3.5 in 2023. While Franklin-Myers missed the entirety of the 2019 season, he’s otherwise been durable, playing 15 or more games in every other season of his career.
