The Denver Broncos scored 33 points in the fourth quarter on Sunday to take down the New York Giants. However, Denver’s comeback almost fell short after a series of questionable calls by the referees in favor of New York
On Monday, one prominent insider around the league reported that one of the Broncos’ star players was being suspended for a game.
“Per the NFL: Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been suspended without pay for one game for unsportsmanlike conduct following Sunday’s game against the New York Giants,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Schefter then revealed that it stemmed from Greenlaw taking exception to the calls.
“After the conclusion of the Giants-Broncos game, the NFL said Dre Greenlaw chased after referee Brad Allen and verbally threatened him as he tried to leave the field.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Doesn’t happen if refs don’t try and rig game for giants on their last drive,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Lmao he didn’t touch him he should have after that horrendous pass interference call,” someone else added.
“Someone has to hold the officials accountable, and clearly the league won’t,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the league takes any steps to hold the officiating crew accountable as well.
