The San Francisco 49ers have done a fantastic job of weathering an assault on their health so far this season. Despite horrible injury luck, including to star quarterback Brock Purdy, the Niners are 4-1 on the season.
However, San Francisco knows that if it wants to keep the positive momentum going, it’ll need its most important pieces on the field, particularly on offense, where the 49ers are nothing short of depleted at the moment.
Unfortunately, things aren’t trending the way the Niners had hoped, via one prominent NFL insider, and it’s looking like they’ll be without three of their most important pieces for this weekend’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“No practice today for QB Brock Purdy (toe), WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) and WR Jauan Jennings (ankle, ribs),” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to the brutal news on social media.
“Purdy sitting out especially is one to watch. Hopefully just precautionary, but losing him or both WRs would seriously hurt their rhythm heading into the weekend,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Is there any chance of Brock playing this week? They need him back but they also need him healthy for a playoff run,” someone else added.
“Tough news for 49ers fans! Purdy’s toe, Pearsall’s knee, and Jennings’ ankle/ribs keeping them out of practice. Looks like Kendrick Bourne might step up big—hope the team adapts well for Week 6 vs. Bucs,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Niners can keep things rolling despite the poor injury luck.
