The future of Derrick Henry with the Tennessee Titans is quite uncertain as Henry becomes a free agent and has made it clear that he wants to be a part of a championship-contending team. But it sounds like new Titans head coach Brian Callahan would like to have him back if possible.
During a recent appearance on 102.7 The Game, Brian Callahan made it clear that he would love to have Derrick Henry back in the offense, believing that a player like him can improve any team.
“I think a player like Derrick Henry fits into any offense,” Callahan said. “He’s been a remarkable player, he’s been the face of the franchise here for a long time. When you think of the Tennessee Titans, you think of Derrick Henry. He’s earned that. If he is open to a return that fits for us, I’m never going to say no to good players. I know that he’s been an incredible leader in this building as well, which also carries a lot of weight. You can find ways to use every player. There’s no offensive system that would say ‘I don’t like to have Derrick Henry here.’”
Obviously, it will come down to whatever Henry wants as well as the team’s salary cap situation, but it’s clear that Callahan would like to keep Henry around.
