It’s safe to say that this season is not quite going according to plan for the Denver Broncos. After the team traded for star quarterback Russell Wilson over the offseason, they likely hoped to participate in the postseason and potentially even compete for a Super Bowl. But now with a 2-5 record, it looks like the team could be ready to make some drastic roster changes, instead.
Following Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets, Broncos star pass rusher Bradley Chubb was asked about the possibility that he could be traded ahead of the NFL’s Nov. 1 trade deadline. Chubb revealed that he has heard the rumors, but isn’t allowing himself to focus on them right now.
“Yeah I heard about them but I’m just focused on trying to help my guys fight through this,” Chubb said according to Mike Klis of 9News.com. “I know it’s a business and anything can happen but all I care about right now is my guys and trying to get this thing turned around.”
While Chubb is a star on the team, he is also in the last year of his rookie contract and is set to become a free agent at the end of the year. With the Broncos not looking like playoff contenders, trading Chubb before the deadline would allow the team to get something in return for a player that is likely leaving the team in the offseason anyway.
