The Buffalo Bills made a move that NFL fans and others are buzzing about. The Bills decided to move on from veteran safety Jordan Poyer, who will now become an attractive free agent.
Poyer and the Bills part ways after seven seasons spent in Western New York together.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on the split Wednesday morning. Schefter reported the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
“Bills are releasing All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer,” Schefter said.
In 2013, the Philadelphia Eagles drafted Poyer out of Oregon State in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. His time in Philly was short-lived, as he eventually landed on the Cleveland Browns by the end of the season. The Browns were Poyer’s home for four more seasons until he arrived in Buffalo.
The Bills housed Poyer for the last seven seasons. He’s been productive, as he totaled 22 total interceptions with the Bills during his tenure in Western New York. That included his 2021 and 2022 seasons where he had a combined nine interceptions. He came away with an All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection as well during his time with the Bills.
Poyer will now go on to be an attractive free agent in a growing safety market. Someone will surely want his services, as he’s been in the game for quite some time and has plenty more to offer.
The NFL world reacted to the news.
