The Buffalo Bills made a statement Sunday in their 48-20 drubbing of the previously undefeated Miami Dolphins, but the Bills will be without one of their most important players for the rest of the season.
Cornerback Tre’Davious White was carted off after a non-contact injury to his leg in the third quarter.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, White’s injury is believed to be a torn Achilles, which would end his season. White will undergo an MRI on Monday.
White tore his ACL on Thanksgiving 2021 in a game against the New Orleans Saints and didn’t return to action until Buffalo’s Thanksgiving 2022 win over the Detroit Lions.
Drafted by the Bills in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, White has been an impact player for nearly his entire time in Buffalo, starting all 16 games and recording four interceptions in his rookie season. He played a key role on Buffalo’s strong 2018 defense, as well, but White’s true breakout came in his third year in the league. The 2019 season saw the LSU alum grab six interceptions, tying him for first in the NFL, and being named a first-team All-Pro and garnering his first Pro Bowl selection.
Christian Benford will likely replace White going forward. The second-year corner has 34 tackles and one interception so far in his short career.
