The New England Patriots suffered an absolutely brutal loss over the weekend during a game against the Indianapolis Colts in Germany thanks to some particularly terrible play at the quarterback position, but Bill Belichick didn’t have any particular changes to announce just yet.
During the game, starting quarterback Mac Jones completed 15 of 20 passes but struggled to move the ball down the field, leading the Patriots to just six points on the day. As a result, the Patriots made a change at quarterback late in the game, subbing in backup Bailey Zappe. Unfortunately for the Patriots, Zappe was actually worse, completing just 3 of 7 passes with a back-breaking, game-sealing interception on the game’s final drive.
During his press conference this week, Belichick made it clear that the team is evaluating “everything” as they try make necessary adjustments.
“We just got back from Germany,” Belichick said at his Monday press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “We’ll work through everything. We’ll look at everything, all the way across the board. Not specifically one position, but just look at everything and do the best we can here going forward.”
The Patriots are now 2-8 – by far the worst start the team has ever had under Belichick.
