The Cincinnati Bengals came into this season looking to end their two-year hiatus from the playoffs and make a Super Bowl run after securing both of star quarterback Joe Burrow’s top two targets, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, to long-term extensions.

The Bengals managed to avoid another one of the slow starts that have plagued them in recent seasons and got off to a 2-0 start; however, Burrow went down in the second game to a turf toe injury that is set to keep him out for a minimum of two months after surgery was required.

In Burrow’s place, Cincinnati has started Jake Browning, and the results have been disastrous. Browning is 0-3 in his starts this season, and the offense has looked largely like the worst unit in the league.

Now, the Bengals are shuffling things up some in their quarterback room.

“Bengals released QB Mike White from their practice squad,” Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday morning.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Please god make this be that they are trading for someone,” one Bengals fan wrote on Twitter.

“Never seen a team give a QB this bad in Browning this good of a treatment,” someone else added.

“They’re trading for Shedeur,” one person speculated.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Bengals trade for a new quarterback.
