When the Cincinnati Bengals arrived in town to take on the Detroit Lions this past weekend, Bengals guard Jackson Carman asked around for some food advice the night before the game.
Apparently, that advice led him to Mom’s Spaghetti, Eminem’s recently opened restaurant that is named for the lyric describing the scene in 8 Mile when his character has thrown up all over himself due to nerves. How apropos it would all be a day later.
During the game, Carman left due to an “illness” and was listed as questionable to return.
It was later confirmed that he had thrown up on the field prior to leaving, giving speculation to the prior night’s tweet and its impact on the game. It was either that, presumably, or something COVID-related, especially since he had been on the Bengals’ COVID reserve list through that Friday.
Turns out, however, it was indeed that fateful meal that caused the stomach upset. Carman clarified that with a tweet in which he said he “would not recommend eating Mom’s Spaghetti when you visit Detroit.”
Ouch. Not the five-star review or free publicity the restaurant was hoping for. Especially since Mom’s Spaghetti just opened in September. Hopefully, most customers aren’t having similar reactions, on or off the field.
