For many years, Cincinnati Bengals team owner Mike Brown has been criticized for his apparent reluctance to spend money to improve the franchise, the team facilities, or the overall player experience. But if a recent accusation from the NFL Players Association is true, it may be the worst and cheapest thing he and Bengals ownership have done yet.
On Saturday afternoon, the NFL Players Association sent a tweet accusing Bengals team ownership of attempting to strip all athletes of their workers’ compensation benefits.
“ATTENTION ALL PLAYERS. In a move that could impact our entire membership, @Bengals ownership is attempting to strip all athletes in Ohio of their workers’ compensation benefits. Check your email for more info and reach out to your PD with questions,” the NFLPA said in a tweet.
It’s an absolutely horrible accusation against the Bengals, and the NFL world understandably had plenty of unkind things to say about the franchise’s ownership as a result.
The initial Tweet from the NFLPA did not offer many details aside from the initial accusation and the Bengals did not have an immediate reaction to the claim, so it’s safe to say there will be plenty of updates on this story in the near future.
