The Cincinnati Bengals come into Monday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars looking to break a three-game losing streak. But a much longer losing streak specific to Monday Night Football also looms over their head that they will also be attempting to snap.
The Bengals have been a solid team for much of the last decade. But they have not been able to get it done on MNF for quite some time, specifically when traveling on the road on Mondays.
They have lost nine straight road MNF games, a streak that dates all the way back to 1990 with then-quarterback Boomer Esiason at the helm.
If they are going to snap this lengthy streak on Monday night, they will need to overcome some significant adversity to do so.
Star quarterback Joe Burrow will not be playing in the game, or for the rest of the season for that matter after suffering a season-ending wrist injury last month.
This has resulted in the Bengals offense struggling significantly as of late with journeyman quarterback Jake Browning as their starter.
With this in mind, it should be no surprise that the Bengals are significant underdogs in their matchup Monday night against the Jaguars. Jacksonville comes into the game as 10-point favorites in the matchup.
