Second-year Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles must really have loved the 2022-23 Carolina Panthers team. That is at least what the Bears’ offseason thus far has indicated.
Chicago notably traded with the Panthers, giving up the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. The Bears received the No. 9 overall pick in 2023, a 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick. However, perhaps the biggest piece included in the trade was star wide receiver D.J. Moore.
Poles followed this move by adding another piece of the Panthers’ offense. They brought in quarterback P.J. Walker on a two-year deal on Wednesday.
They were not done there, as they decided to bring in another valuable piece to the Panthers’ offense last year. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday night that D’Onta Foreman has agreed to a one-year $3 million deal with the Bears.
This move means that the Bears have brought in the leading rusher and receiver for the Panthers last year in Moore and Foreman.
Bringing in Foreman is one that makes sense for Chicago. They recenly parted ways with David Montgomery, who was the team’s lead back last year.
D’Onta Foreman is also a player that flashed some real upside last year. He took advantage of the Panthers trading Christian McCaffrey in a big way, recording five games with over 100 rushing yards for Carolina.
While the Panthers were not exactly a prolific offense last year, both Moore and Foreman made the best of an incredibly shaky situation. They could fare even better next year in a Bears offense led by Justin Fields.
