While the Chicago Bears were a trendy pick to at least contend for a playoff spot, the first three weeks of the season have played out differently. And one Bears legend didn’t mince words when talking about his former team.
Chicago’s Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs surprised absolutely nobody. But that didn’t make the utter dismantling any easier to watch for the Bears and their fans. Kansas City won 41-10 in a game that wasn’t even that close, as Chicago got its 10 points in the fourth quarter in garbage time. And Jim McMahon, the starting quarterback for the Bears lone Super Bowl championship team in 1985, succinctly and bluntly summed up the game.
“Embarrassing,” McMahon tweeted.
It was certainly a tough game to watch. The game was so bad, in fact, that the combined allure of the defending Super Bowl champions and Taylor Swift being in the building to support her rumored new boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was not enough to keep Fox on the game outside of the local markets.
And McMahon’s blunt take didn’t earn a lot of disagreement.
If there’s any good news for the Bears, it’s that the schedule offers a potential break. Chicago will host the Denver Broncos in Week 4. Denver is also 0-3 and was the only team in the league to look worse than Chicago did in Week 3.
