The Atlanta Falcons have not gotten off to the start the franchise imagined it would behind its first full season of the Michael Penix Jr. experience. The Falcons are 1-2 on the season, and on Sunday, they shocked the NFL community by losing 0-30 to the Carolina Panthers, whom many considered one of the worst teams in the NFL this season.

The Falcons’ struggles are not going unpenalized either, as Atlanta is already making the tough decision to move on from one of the members of its coaching staff.

“We have released from staff wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard. Current passing game coordinator T.J. Yates will assume those duties,” the Falcons posted on their official Twitter account.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Drake London had one good season and it was because of an injured Kirk Cousins. In 2025 the Falcons are back to the regularly scheduled program of becoming the dysfunctional Chicago Bears organization of the south,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“This is going to fix everything! He must have obviously been the one calling the plays and not just a scapegoat for an offense that has massively underperformed for the level of talent it possesses.. right?” someone else added.

“Sacrificial lamb. Unless Hilliard somehow contributed to plays taking forever to get in, he’s not the coach that needs to go,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting ot see if this move helps the Falcons turn things around.
