The Pittsburgh Steelers struggled mightily on offense during their season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers, failing to gain a first down on their first five drives of the game and only scoring one touchdown in the entire contest. The performance was so bad that it even caught the attention of former star wide receiver Antonio Brown, who is apparently offering to rejoin the team.
Following the team’s brutal offensive showing on Sunday afternoon, Antonio Brown took to social media where he posted a couple of messages indicating that he would like to play for the Steelers once again to help boost the team’s offense.
“Heard the Steelers need a WR,” Brown said in a tweet on Monday afternoon.
“Hear Me Out,” Brown said in a sbsequent tweet along with a photo of himself celebrating a touchdown in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform.
Obviously, the Steelers will certainly not entertain this idea. Aside from the fact that Brown has not played in the NFL since abruptly quitting and retiring from the NFL in the middle of a game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brown has faced numerous legal battles and has been the subject of several unsavory headlines since his retirement.
It’s pretty clear that the Steelers will not entertain this, but that’s not going to stop him from trying anyway.
