NFL world reacts to Rams signing Allen Robinson

Coming off of a Super Bowl win, the Los Angeles Rams are showing no signs of slowing down. On Thursday, they signed Allen Robinson.

The news was initially reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and later confirmed on Twitter by the Rams.

As part of his report,  Schefter added another detail. Robinson isn’t necessarily being signed as a replacement to free agent Odell Beckham Jr. The Rams are hopeful that Beckham will re-sign and have the money to make that happen.

There is a lot to unpack here. For starters, while Robinson had something of a down year last season, catching 38 passes for 410 yards in 12 games with the Chicago Bears, he’s been a top-tier receiver in the NFL. Robinson topped 1,000 yards in both 2019 and 2020 and will only be 29 on Opening Day.

Robinson going into a Sean McVay offense had people excited.

And really, Cooper Kupp and Robinson being paired together is only the tip of the iceberg. Beckham may be back. Robert Woods will be back from his injury at some point in 2022.

The potential five-wide combination of Kupp, Robinson, Woods, Beckham, and Van Jefferson got the attention of a lot of football fans. Even in non-five wide sets, it would allow Beckham and Woods — who are both coming off of serious injuries — to be eased back into things.

A lot of chips still have to fall.

But if there was any sense that the Rams may back off a little bit after winning a Super Bowl, that’s clearly not happening. The “all-in” approach is as prevalent as ever.
