It has not been a good time for the Washington Commanders in recent years. While the franchise tried to turn over a new leaf with its new identity, owner Dan Snyder always seems to be under fire because of workplace conditions, financial issues, or just a general dislike of him as a human being. That’s to say nothing of the issues that have plagued FedEx Field in recent years, including literal sewage leaks onto fans.
Alex Smith knows what it was like to be around the Washington Commanders as he was a quarterback with the franchise between 2018 and 2020. Smith appeared on ESPN’s Daily Pod on Monday and laid out exactly what he thinks of the organization and its stadium.
“I’ve never seen a place where the distractions come from the other side of the building,” Smith said.
The former NFL quarterback also added a damning critique about FedEx Field.
“FedEx Field is probably the worst gameday experience in the country,” Smith said.
The list of friendly faces when it comes to Dan Synder and the Commanders’ organization is shrinking. No wonder he and his wife Tanya are looking into selling the franchise. It’s only a matter of time before players decide not to play for Washington because of the ongoing issues and, perhaps, that’s already been happening.
