It’s no secret that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is happy to be with his new team after two dissapointing years with the New York Jets after leaving the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers’ first season in the Big Apple ended on his first possession of the season, and his second saw him win a total of five games as the starting quarterback.
Now, in his first season with the Steelers, Rodgers has won the AFC North, and he and the Steelers will host the Houston Texans in round one of the NFL playoffs. As happy as he is to be with Pittsburgh, Rodgers couldn’t help but mention the Jets when talking to reporters before his upcoming matchup with Houston.
“There aren’t any leaks in the boat. It’s the antithesis of where I was….to be able to focus on football and not have a lot of other little bull– out there has been really nice,” Rodgers said on Thursday, according to Pennlive.com’s Nick Farabaugh.
For what it’s worth, it’s clear that Rodgers wasn’t the problem in New York, considering they’ve regressed and only won three games this season without him.
This season wasn’t without its lows, however. Fans even changed “Fire Tomlin” during an embarassing home loss to the Buffalo Bills, and Rodgers is happy to have silenced the doubters for his head coach.
“It feels good to shut all those comments down. Clean the slate now anybody can make a run. It’s the hottest team. We’ve won 4 of 5. We’re playing a lot better football than we were earlier in the season. I like our chances,” he said, per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
Rodgers and Tomlin will face the Texans on Monday night on ESPN.
