When future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers first signed with the New York Jets, there were some who wondered just how long he would actually play with the team, especially given that he was considering retirement before coming to New York. But it doesn’t sound like he’s planning to retire anytime soon.

During a recent interview with CBS News, Aaron Rodgers announced that he plans to play for the New York Jets for “a few good years” before handing off the starting quarterback role to Zach Wilson, who is serving as his backup.

“To win here would be really, really special, but why limit it to one?” Rodgers said.

“I don’t plan on this being a one-and-done. I think we’re going to be competitive here for a long time. I’d like to be able to play a few good years here and then hand it right off to Zach [Wilson], and let him go for the next 15,” Rodgers said. “It’d be a really special 18-20 year run of great quarterback play.”

Rodgers has already had one of the most storied careers in NFL history, winning four MVP awards and a Super Bowl title throughout his 18 seasons in the league. We’ll have to see if he can add to that legacy with the Jets.
