The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a blazing start to the season, and at 5-1, they have the AFC North in a stranglehold. The Steelers and veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is in his first season with the franchise, are currently in second place in the entire conference.
However, everything hasn’t gone according to plan for Rodgers. Throughout the season, the four-time MVP has been actively looking for a helmet that he finds comfortable, as his preferred one has been phased out of the league’s health and safety protocols.
“I can’t stand the helmet,” Rodgers said of switching to a newer Schutt at mandatory minicamp, according to Pro Football Talk. “I’ve worn a Schutt for 20 years and somehow it finally didn’t pass the safety standard.”
By training camp, Rodgers had made another switch to a different model of Schutt.
“I don’t like it, no,” he said in August. “I’m trying to change. We’re in the process still. It looks like a damn spaceship out there.”
Unfortunately, Rodgers is still still looking for the right fit, as he came out of Pittsburgh’s bye week with yet another model for their game against the Cleveland Browns, this time a Vicis helmet.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Man stays doing his own research,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Switching helmets like he switches relationships,” another fan added.
“Yeah, i’ve been losing sleep over this,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see how Rodgers looks when he’s finally fully comfortable on the field.
