Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could be on the move.
Peter King of NBC Sports reports that the Packers are open to trade offers for Rodgers and that the New York Jets would “happily” pay the price.
“Cap numbers [on the deal] in the next two seasons would be $48.3 million, combined. That’s certainly manageable,” King wrote. “As for the compensation due Green Bay, my guess is the Pack would want at least two first-round picks.”
King wrote that Jets owner Woody Johnson would “happily” pony up the sum required to acquire Rodgers.
The NFL world was quick to react to the news:
Since Aaron Rodgers took over as the starting QB for the Packers, they've had more seasons finishing inside the top five of offensive DVOA (7) than outside the top ten (5).
The only year Green Bay finished lower than 11th was 2017 when Rodgers only played seven games. #GoPackGo pic.twitter.com/WGkoQ2iYuZ

Aaron Rodgers, who perpetually plays the victim, antagonizes the media and thinks he's a new age guru vs. the New York Media?
It would be a content bonanza for all of us. Yes, please. https://t.co/kxRGl88mO1

How bad the new Aaron Rodgers deal was for the #Packers. They should have moved on last season, and keeping him under a new deal was a massive mistake. https://t.co/RNRymC68s0

Aaron Rodgers vs. Josh Allen (at least) twice a year would be great TV. https://t.co/ghkousBT1z

Why the Cowboys should trade Dak… for Aaron Rodgers. Now on @undisputed

Skip Bayless of Fox Sports opined that the Dallas Cowboys should trade quarterback Dak Prescott for Aaron Rodgers.
Only time will tell if the Packers actually deal Rodgers. The franchise finished 8-9 in the NFC North last season and missed the playoffs.
