Now that he’s exited the darkness, it’s up to Aaron Rodgers to decide on his playing future. The Green Bay Packers have reportedly been willing to accommodate his demands, whether he wants to return to Green Bay for another season or finish out his playing career in another city. The Packers and more specifically, general manager Brian Gutekunst, just want Rodgers to make his decision prior to the start of free agency on March 15.
Gutekunst addressed reporters at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Tuesday and according to NFL insider Rob Demovsky, who covers the Packers for ESPN, Green Bay’s GM said that he hasn’t spoken much with Rodgers since their end-of-season meetings.
Gutekunst was asked point blank whether he wants Rodgers back in a Packers uniform.
“He’s a great player, but until we have those conversations, I think all options are on the table,” Gutekunst said. “We need to have those conversations. We want what’s best for the Green Bay Packers, what’s best for him so we’ll get to that coming up.”
Green Bay’s GM revealed that he has not received a direct trade offer from anybody for Aaron Rodgers. Said Gutekunst, “I have conversations with teams all the time. I’ve talked to a lot of different teams about a lot of different things, but actual talking about trades, not yet.”
Whether the Packers end up trading Rodgers remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, Green Bay is hoping he decides on his playing future in 15 days.
