The San Francisco 49ers are having a strong start to the season after missing out on the playoffs last year. The Niners are 3-1 through the first four weeks of the season, but what’s been surprising has been the emergence of backup quarterback Mac Jones.
Jones was forced into action when Brock Purdy was forced out with an injury, going 2-0 in his starts. Purdy returned last week, but it seems that the Niners are losing their starting quarterback again, according to one prominent league insider.
“Brock Purdy (toe), Ricky Pearsall (knee), Jauan Jennings (ankle, ribs) are out Thursday night vs. the Rams,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Fans might just tune in to see which body part gives out next,” oen fan wrote on Twitter.
“And somehow CMC is still in lmaoo he’s gonna fake illness Thursday morning I’m calling it rn,” another fan added.
“man, without purdy and those guys, the 49ers look like a hot mess express. rams -5.5? that’s basically free beer money, folks. grab it while it’s cold,” someone else added.
It’lll be interesting to see if Jones can keep his record as a starter this season unblemished with so many pieces missing for San Francisco.
