The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles just got into a huge fight as the NFC Championship Game winded down.
With less than 5 minutes to play, the 49ers and Eagles were getting a bit chippy. The Niners had the ball and tried proceeding down the field. After a play, things got dicey. Niners offensive lineman Trent Williams jawed with Eagles free safety K’Von Wallace.
Trent obviously didn’t appreciate Wallace in his space. Williams slammed Wallace down on the ground. That led to sparks flying everywhere and the benches cleared.
After the shocking fight, the referees ejected both Williams and Wallace from the game.
While fights are always less than ideal, especially in the NFL, “Both teams please go to the sidelines” may have gotten a chuckle out of some people.
The NFL world reacted to the crazy on-field fight as it happened.
Charles McDonald of Yahoo! Sports tweeted, “49ers came out here and wasted a bunch of time. A fight is the least they can give us at this point.”
“When you try to fight Trent Williams,” Chris Vannini of The Athletic tweeted a long with a clip of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens of WWE laid out on the mat.
Trill Withers tweeted, “Let Sirianni and Shanahan fight the final 3 minutes.” Seems like a fair compromise maybe.
And Bakari https://twitter.com/TylerIAm/status/1619832180955582465Sellers tweeted, “49ers going with the old adage, ‘Can’t win the game, win the fight.”
