The San Francisco 49ers had a rough go of things last year, as their entire season was thrown off course by injuries to star players, including star running back Christian McCaffrey.
However, McCaffrey entered this offseason eager to prove that when fully healthy, he’s still one of the best players in the league. He seemed on track to do just that, with his teammate, Kyle Juszccyk, singing his praises.
“Christian is arguably the best player in the NFL,” Juszczyk said, per Next Inpulse Sports. “He was the offensive player of the year two years ago. He changes everything, and he looks incredible. He looks so healthy. He looks so explosive.”
Unfortunately, McCaffrey has caught the injury bug again with the regular season mere days away, according to one prominent league insider.
“49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has a calf injury and was limited at practice today,” reported Ari Meirov on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“WTF. All training camp long he was healthy, and now this shit again right before the season starts!!?” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“McCaffrey injury report drops more consistently than his highlights,” another fan added.
“I pray he recovers swiftly and stays healthy for the rest off the season,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if McCaffrey can stay healthy this year.
