The San Francisco 49ers are arguably the best team in football, and a big reason for that is the impressive play from second-year quarterback Brock Purdy. Purdy is still on his rookie contract, and he isn’t quite living as lavishly as someone with his skills arguably should be.

Purdy was “Mr. Irrelevant” in the 2022 NFL Draft, a nickname for the final selection of the NFL Draft. That means that he isn’t being paid nearly as much as the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, making $870,000 this year.

That’s obviously nothing to sneeze at for the average person. But in terms of the NFL, Purdy is essentially making the league minimum until he gets a contract extension from San Francisco.

Purdy is seemingly taking it all in stride and isn’t living beyond his means like some NFL players end up doing. He even revealed during an appearance on The Today Show Wednesday that he still lives with a roommate.

“So, I still have a roommate,” Purdy admitted when asked about his home life. “One of our offensive linemen here. So he and I are still splitting rent. I still drive my Toyota Sequoia. Other than that, it’s pretty simple.”

Again, there is nothing wrong with splitting rent with a roommate for most people, especially in San Francisco, which is notably the third most expensive city in the United States to live in.

That being said, you would expect the starting quarterback a Super Bowl contender like the 49ers to be able to live on his own. And fans largely agreed that it was a pretty shocking revelation from Purdy.

Given Purdy’s impressive play on the field this season, it seems like it is only a matter of time until Purdy can kick that roommate to the curb once he gets a much-deserved contract extension from the 49ers.
