The San Francisco 49ers are looking to get back to the playoffs after injuries completely derailed their 2024 campaign. However, it’s going to be tough treading for the Niners, who find themselves in the ultra-competitive NFC West.

San Francisco is also dealing with some brutal injury luck this year, which is complicating things. Star linebacker Fred Warner is out for the season with a brutal foot injury, and both of the quarterbacks the Niners have started this year, Brock Purdy and Mac Jones, have been banged up.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had a shocking update on just how injured the two pass throwers are this season.

49ers QB Brock Purdy will return to practice today, still dealing with turf toe. Mac Jones will also practice, and coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy is more limited than Jones. TE George Kittle (hamstring) will also have his practice window opened,” Rapoport tweeted on Wednesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Practicing through the injury will allow a callus to from between the toe and the turf. It’s nature’s way of healing, per the 49ers medical team,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“They’re starting to come back. Slowly but surely,” someone else added.

“Looks like Purdy’s still dealing with that turf toe, but it’s good to hear he’s back at practice. Kittle and Jones getting involved will definitely help the offense,” another fan wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see if either Jones or Purdy can go this weekend.
