Back in 2024, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was one of the top receivers in the game, receiving a $120 million contract extension from the team ahead of the season, making him one of the highest-paid receivers in the game. However, things have not gone well for him since then.

Less than two years after signing the massive contract extension with the team, Aiyuk is off the team’s active roster and is now facing an arrest warrant.

Has Not Played Since 2024

After entering 2024 as one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the league following his high-profile contract extension, Aiyuk tore his ACL in October of 2024. Unfortunately, he has not been able to bounce back the way he or the team would have hoped.

Aiyuk has not played a single snap since then, and the team has since voided all the remaining guaranteed money on his contract, saying he refused to rehab at the team facility.

While he is still technically a member of the team, Aiyuk has not been on the team’s active roster and is not expected to play for the 49ers again, especially after Niners General Manager John Lynch said that the team is looking to trade him. If the team is unable to find a trade partner, he will almost certainly be released.

Arrest Warrant Issued

On top of his issues with the team, it sounds like Aiyuk is now facing some legal issues, too.

According to a report from The California Post on Wednesday, a warrant for Aiyuk’s arrest has been issued in Northern California on a misdemeanor charge of exhibition of speed.

The charge is related to a video Aiyuk posted to his YouTube page in December that showed him reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour on Santa Clara roadways in his Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. In the footage, he could be seen hitting 104 mph as he flew by Levi’s Stadium.

After receiving criticism, Aiyuk issued a public apology, but that did not stop the Santa Clara Police Department from launching an investigation into the video and ultimately forwarding the case to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office on Jan. 15.

It appears that the investigation has now yielded this arrest warrant.
