For much of the opening half of the Fiesta Bowl Saturday, it was all Ohio State. The No. 2 Buckeyes raced out to a 16-0 lead over the No. 3 Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff semifinals thanks to plays like Garrett Wilson’s catch, but Clemson then battled back. And one of the key plays there came on a 67-yard touchdown run from Tigers’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence, which led to an extra point that made this just 16-14 heading into the half. Here’s Lawrence’s run:
That was a great play, and it helped Clemson get back in this game. At the half, Lawrence had completed just nine of 18 pass attempts for just 98 yards, but he had come through with his legs, rushing eight times for a team-high 89 yards and a touchdown. And most of that yardage came on this play. It certainly got the Tigers close heading into the halftime break.
