After a lopsided season-opening victory over Louisiana-Monroe this week, the Texas Longhorns now host the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide this week – and oddsmakers are not expecting a close game.
According to the FanDuel Sportsbook, Alabama opened up as a sizeable 17.5-point favorite over the Longhorns in the week two showdown, even though Texas will be playing at home. It’s a pretty massive line given the circumstances, but this year’s Alabama team is expected to be one of the most dominant of the past 20 years.
Alabama will enter Saturday’s matchup with the Longhorns coming off of a 55-0 win over Utah State to start the season. They entered that game as a 42-point favorite, so the Crimson Tide has already covered one absolutely massive spread this season.
While this game would have already been a high-profile matchup between two historic powerhouses, recent conference realignment has added to the intrigue. Beginning in the 2025 season, Texas will be joining the SEC along with the Oklahoma Sooners. This means that this showdown between the Longhorns and the Crimson Tide could be a preview of what’s to come between the two teams.
The game is set to kick off at noon on Saturday and will be broadcast live on Fox.
