If you’re a fan of a team in the Sun Belt Conference, you probably enjoyed your day on Saturday. Marshall defeated Notre Dame and Appalachian State defeated Texas A&M. As if defeating two top-10 teams on the road wasn’t enough, the SBC got a nice nightcap, with Georgia Southern beating Nebraska.
Sure, Arkansas State, Southern Miss, and Georgia State lost to Ohio State, Miami, and North Carolina, respectively. But one Group of Five conference matched up against six different Power Five schools and went 3-3. None of the six SBC schools in question went into Saturday ranked. Conversely, four of the six Power Five conference teams were ranked and only managed a 2-2 record against their Sun Belt Conference opponents.
That’s a good day for the SBC — which was noticed by several in the college football world.
Congratulations to the Sun Belt for their forthcoming $2 billion TV deal

Also, as if all of that wasn’t enough, we’re only one week removed from Old Dominion — another Sun Belt Conference team — defeating Virginia Tech — another Power Five conference team.
Maybe need to reconsider which conferences are actually the “Power Five.” Or perhaps, at the very least, these athletic directors from the Power Five need to reconsider which teams they pay to come in and play against their “powerhouses” early in the season. If they don’t, the Fighting Irish, Aggies, and Cornhuskers can tell them firsthand how things can go awry.
