Scottie Pippen is a Chicago Bulls legend with six NBA titles to his name. His son, Scotty Pippen Jr., will have some big shoes to fill but he’s ready to start trying.
The Vanderbilt guard announced Monday that he will sign with an agent and declare for the 2022 NBA Draft.
“To the city of Nashville, thank you for making me feel at home,” Pippen Jr. wrote in a statement. “This community has helped shape me into the person and player I am today, and I’m forever grateful for that. I want to thank Coach Stackhouse, all of my coaches, teammates, support staff, and professors for being there for me and always believing in me. To Commodore Nation – Thank you for supporting me from day one. I felt the love every time I stepped foot on the court in Memorial. It’s a feeling I’ll never forget. At this time, I’ve decided to take the next step in my journey. I am entering the NBA Draft and will sign with an agent. Anchor Down!”
Pippen tested the NBA draft waters last year before returning to play his junior season with the Commodores. However, the SEC’s leading scorer this past season won’t have that option this time around once he signs with an agent.
Pippen set a school record with 736 points this season and led Vanderbilt to a 19-17 record and quarterfinal loss in the NIT.
Pippen, Jr.’s expected announcement generated a lot of appreciation and positive thoughts about his chances in the NBA.
Shoot, this guy gave Kentucky problems the last couple of years. Hoping to see him stick in the NBA. https://t.co/8AjgH3GAxC
