Monday night saw some college basketball history made, with Oregon Ducks’ senior guard Sabrina Ionescu becoming the first-ever NCAA player (women’s or men’s) to record at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists. Ionescu and the No. 3 Ducks beat the No. 4 Stanford Cardinal 74-66 Monday to clinch their third-straight Pac-12 North title, and Ionescu made history in the third quarter when she grabbed her ninth rebound to hit the 2,000/1,000/1,000 mark:
Ionescu finished with 21 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds, her eighth triple-double of the year (tying her own NCAA record set last year). That was her 26th career triple-double, extending her own NCAA record. She entered the night with 2,446 points, 1,029 assists and 991 rebounds, and finished with 2,467 points, 1,041 assists and 1,003 rebounds. She and Gonzaga’s Courtney Vandersloot are the only players in college basketball with over 2,000 points and over 1,000 assists. And this came after Ionescu spoke at a memorial service for Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi earlier in the day:

Ionescu has certainly done a lot to change basketball, and there may be much more ahead for her.
