Art Briles fired as head football coach at Baylor

After University President Ken Starr was fired yesterday in the fallout from the school’s failure to deal with sexual assault claims on campus, most of them dealing with football players, now it appears Baylor head coach Art Briles is also going to fall on his sword.

In nine seasons on the sidelines in Waco, Briles went 65-37 and took a once moribund and listless program into a contender, thanks to a high octane offense and a plethora of players who went on to the NFL. Officially, Baylor has “suspended Briles with the intent to terminate”. Briles has since deleted his official Twitter account as the reports have been confirmed.

Starr is being transitioned to University Chancellor, and Dr. David Garland has been named interim President.

After an Outside the Lines investigation unearthed police records that detailed more allegations of sexual assault and sexual violence done by Baylor football players, the University announced that their findings would be revealed soon, but Starr’s dismissal was leaked yesterday and now it appears his former head football coach is also going to be chopped.

Baylor’s AD Ian McCaw is also going to pay a hefty price as the chaos in Waco continues.
