Last season, the Oklahoma Sooners were the most dominant softball team in the nation, winning the national title and putting up some staggering numbers while doing it. It appears that they’re picking up where they left off this season as well.
No. 2 Oklahoma made a shocking statement on Sunday, absolutely destroying No. 1 UCLA in a 14-0 victory.
The Sooners lost their first game of the season last week but bounced back with a vengeance. Before that, they had started the season 17-0 and allowed just 24 runs.
They got back to their winning ways on Sunday and did so in dominating fashion.
“The rest of the country thought the gap was starting to get closer when really it’s just getting bigger!” said one fan.
“We’ll take that # 1 back now,” another fan said.
“The reports of OU Softball’s demise have been greatly exaggerated,” KTUL News’ TJ Eckert added.
Last season, the Sooners finished the regular season with a 54-2 record, which included a 17-1 Big 12 regular season. That includes 39 wins that required the mercy rule, with plenty of scores such as 14-0, 15-1, 20-0, and 21-0. They went on to win the national championship after running roughshod over the rest of the nation. It appears that they are in line to do it again in 2023.
