Ohio State Buckeyes head football coach Ryan Day has kept mostly silent on his political views as he generally avoids any kind of controversy. One other prominent Ohio State head coach, however, has certainly not been shy about sharing his political views.
Tom Ryan has been the head coach of the Ohio State wrestling program since 2006, where he has led the program to unprecedented success. He led the team to the 2015 national championship and earned himself a spot in the Ohio State athletics Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2023.
This year, the Ohio State wrestling team is dominant once again as they are currently ranked No. 2 in the country with a perfect 14-0 record in dual matches this season, all with Ryan leading the way.
Following yet another match over the weekend, Ryan took to social media to share his political views on a few issues as he called for voter ID laws, declared himself “America first,” expressed his support for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and spoke out against transgender athletes.
“Needed ID to check into my hotel. Needed ID to get through security. Needed ID to renew my license plate. Why in the heck would I be able to VOTE without it? Come on Americans. This is simple. Occam’s Razor! Any human who puts their status over the good of the people needs to,” Ryan wrote in a post on X.
Ryan continued to express his right-wing views in a follow-up post.
“I will be dead in 40 years and want America to be the place that I grew up in. American first. Silence is a killer. Leave ICE alone, as we have no idea the level of predators they’re pursuing. 1 vote per American. No men in women’s sports. Jail all that have committed fraud,” Ryan wrote in a follow-up post.
Needless to say, Ryan has made his political views very clear, no matter how controversial they are.
