The Alabama Crimson Tide is the No. 2 team in the nation, is in line to play in the College Football Playoff, and will have a chance to win their seventh national title in 13 years. But don’t think that means Nick Saban is happy.
The 9-1 Tide takes on the 7-3 Arkansas Razorbacks this Saturday in a huge game with SEC West implications. On Wednesday, Saban stepped to the podium following Alabama’s practice and made it clear that he was not pleased with the effort he was seeing from his team.
“I think we need to have the right mindset in preparation, in practice, how we practice, how physical we need to be in terms of how we need to play in a game like this,” Saban said.
Specifically, he talked about how some of the players seemed to have the ‘poor-me’s’ even though he didn’t even seem to be clear on what that meant.
“Today we got a lot of guys that had the ‘poor-me’s,’ whatever that means,” Saban said. “You get into your feelings and you don’t do things you need to do ’em to have success, and when you get that way you don’t create good habits and that’s not a good thing. It’s not something that we can accept and it’s something that we’ve got to do a better job of.”
No. 2 Alabama will face No. 22 Arkansas at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. We’ll see if any of those poor-me’s carry over into the weekend and affect the Tide’s ability to take care of business.
