Monday’s College Football Playoff national title game between the No. 1 LSU Tigers and the No. 3 Clemson Tigers saw lots of drama, including a cameraman getting run over during introductions and widespread streaming issues. And a whole lot then happened on the field, with LSU falling behind 17-7 early but recovering to win 42-25. That meant they claimed their fourth national title, following 1958, 2003, and 2007.
Here are some of the key LSU touchdowns:
On the night, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow completed 31-of-49 passes (63.3 percent) for 463 yards, with five touchdowns and no interceptions, and he also ran 14 times for 58 yards and a touchdown. That gives him some *very* impressive season totals:
Meanwhile, after a hot start, Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence was held to 18 completions on 37 attempts (48.6 percent) for 234 yards. So this was an impressive showing by both the LSU offense and the LSU defense. And it led to them finishing the season 15-0 (tying last year’s Clemson team with that mark) and claiming the national championship.
