The LSU Tigers have been one of the best athletic programs in the country for the last few years. Their softball program is no different, as they’ve been a perennial contender in the SEC for several years.
2024 has proven to be an exciting season for Tiger softball fans. LSU gave their fans much to be happy about on Tuesday as the second-ranked Tigers defeated 3rd-ranked Texas to improve to 23-0.
LSU Softball boasted about this only how they could.
“23-EAUX,” the team touted on their X account.
The NCAA Softball account reposted the final out of the game that resulted in a 7-4 win for the Fighting Tigers.
Only juggernaut Oklahoma is ahead of the Tigers in the new set of rankings that dropped this week. It’s become very hard to ignore the 23-0 Fighting Tigers, who lead the SEC at the moment overall (prior to league play, of course). The 23-0 Tigers are at the top of the SEC leaderboard, with the 23-2 Texas A&M Aggies and 20-3 Missouri Tigers looking up at them.
LSU ranks second in the SEC in hitting but they’ve done so without a sharp amount of power, as the team’s only hit a combined 20 home runs to this point. Perhaps that makes it all the more impressive, as they haven’t been home run-reliant, but they’re getting it done every single time they take the field.
LSU fans were very pleased with what they saw, and the softball world certainly took notice.
