As the LSU Tigers dropped their second game in four tries to start the 2016 season, it became clear that the power brokers within the football program were not too happy. That led to the dismissal of long-time head coach Les Miles on Sunday.
Less than 24 hours later, it is clear that the 62-year-old coach is not about to give up the career he has dedicated so much of his life to.
On Monday morning, he spoke to Dan Patrick on his radio show and made it very clear that there really isn’t much else he would rather be doing than coaching college football.
Miles also makes it clear that he will take some time to enjoy visiting with his two oldest children, who are attending Texas and UNC respectively. So expect him to be showing up on game days around those two universities this season.
It will be interesting to see how quickly he gets back in to coaching, or if being around his family more pulls at him more so than we expect.
As for LSU, it will be a very interesting next four months for the school, because clearly they are shooting for Nick Saban and Alabama-level consistency at the top of the college football mountain.
For his part, Miles seems at peace with what took place and likely saw his firing coming following that crazy loss to Auburn on Saturday.
At least we know he’ll gladly get back in to coaching and entertaining us all with his quotable moments all over again.
