Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett is a potential first-round draft pick due primarily to his passing prowess, but he’s also has some sneaky athleticism. And he got extra “sneaky” with a trick he pulled off on a crazy touchdown run in the ACC Championship Game against Wake Forest on Saturday night.
With the game scoreless early in the first quarter, Pickett had the defense thinking that he was going to slide at the Wake Forest 40-yard line, but instead he faked them out and then ran wall the way into the end zone for a 58-yard touchdown.
Now, some may argue that it’s a “cheap” play and shouldn’t even be allowed; the Wake Forest players thought Pickett was giving himself up, and if they were to try to tackle him, that could easily turn into a defensive penalty. But if you can get away with it, what better time to break it out than the conference championship game?
Pickett entered this game with a career-long run of 30 yards, and a season-long run of 22 yards.
