The Miami Hurricanes took a six-point lead into the second half in their Elite Eight matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks. That did not last long, as Kansas went on to outscore Miami by a whopping 47-15 in the second half.
The Jayhawks went on to make the game look far less competitive than it once was, winning by a final score of 76-50.
This dominant second half by Kansas certainly got the college basketball world talking, with many commending the Jayhawks on such an impressive performance down the stretch of the game.
The Jayhawks were led by presumed NBA Draft prospect Ochai Agbaji, who finished with a game-high 18 points.
Head coach Bill Self has now finally led his team back to the Final Four as the only 1-seed left in the tournament, something that the storied Jayhawks program has now done 16 times.
Kansas will now go on to face the Villanova Wildcats in the Final Four following their victory against the Houston Cougars on Saturday.
In a year where it’s felt like we’ve watched lots of Cinderella teams make a deep run, the blue bloods of Kansas, Duke, and Villanova are the ones punching their tickets to the Final Four. It might be fitting that the St. Peters Peacocks are the only hope for those looking for a true underdog in the NCAA Tournament as they take on North Carolina in the last Elite Eight matchup on Sunday.
