The Evansville Purple Aces got a 65-56 upset victory — as 10.5-point underdogs — on the road over the Indiana State Sycamores on Tuesday night, and the game featured the teams doing absolutely nothing in one statistical category.
Evansville and Indiana State combined for ZERO offensive rebounds in the entire game.
The Purple Aces missed 24 shots from the field (shooting 50%), while the Sycamores missed 25 field goals (46.8%). And the offensive team rebounded none of those shots.
How rare is it for a game to not have any offensive rebounds?
According to Ken Pomeroy, it hasn’t happened in at least the last 25 years of Division I college basketball. Pomeroy adds that the previous low was two offensive rebounds in a game between Columbia and Princeton in Feb. 2006.
Amazing.
On the defensive side of things, each team had 25 rebounds.
